This PvZ Hybrid tier list ranks the best plants in Remake 0.30, from must-pick S tier down to D tier. PvZ Hybrid (植物大战僵尸杂交版) is the mod by 潜艇伟伟迷 (SubmarineWeiWeiPVZ) and his team. It mixes two or more classic plants into one card, so one seed slot can make sun, attack and defend at once. Below you’ll find the strongest hybrids, what each one is made from, which ones to bring in Adventure, Challenges and Survival, and beginner tips. Haven’t installed it yet? Get the latest build from our PvZ Hybrid download page first.
Version note: There isn’t much public plant data for Remake 0.30 yet. This list uses Remake data plus long-standing Classic (3.x) data. Plants marked with * are uncertain: they exist, but their balance or behavior may differ in 0.30. See Remake vs Classic to compare the two branches.
How We Ranked the Best Plants in PvZ Hybrid
We scored every plant on four things:
- Value for sun: how much a plant gives you for its cost and recharge time.
- Versatility: whether it works on day, night, pool, fog and roof stages.
- Problem-solving: whether it handles threats like Gargantuars, armored zombies and flying zombies.
- Ease of use: how forgiving it is for players who are still learning hybrid decks.
Exact numbers like sun cost and damage are only included when a public wiki or plant database lists them. You can see every plant and zombie on our PvZ Hybrid plants and zombies page.

PvZ Hybrid Tier List (Remake 0.30)

S Tier
These plants change the game. Bring them whenever you have them unlocked.
| Plant | Hybrid of | Why / role |
|---|---|---|
| Sunflower Queen | Sunflower family (Twin Sunflower line) | Gold card. 500 sun, makes 150 sun every 25 seconds and fires homing fireballs that reach the whole lawn. It also protects nearby plants from slow and freeze. The catch: every copy raises all plant prices by 100 sun, so one is usually enough. |
| Doom Cannon | Cob Cannon + Doom-shroom | 1,000 sun, reloads every 35 seconds, hits for 1,800 damage in a 7×5 area wherever you aim. It needs no Kernel-pults underneath. The crater blocks planting on that tile for 3 minutes, so aim carefully. |
| Wild Gatling Pea | Gatling Pea line | A gold-tier pea attacker. If you want one main damage card in a lane, this is the usual pick. *Exact numbers vary between builds. |
A Tier
Strong in almost every deck and the backbone of most winning setups.
| Plant | Hybrid of | Why / role |
|---|---|---|
| Pea Sunflower | Peashooter + Sunflower | The first hybrid you unlock. 125 sun, shoots peas and makes 25 sun every 25 seconds. It covers economy and early defense with one card. |
| Sun-Sunflower | Sunflower + Sun-shroom | A sun producer for your second line. Pick it when you want more sun per tile. |
| Winter Melon Cattail | Winter Melon + Cattail | Combines homing lobs with Winter Melon slow. Good against balloon and pool lanes. |
| Spikerock-nut | Spikerock + Wall-nut | A wall that damages zombies standing at it. Holds well against Gargantuar-type pushes. |
| Cherrypeno | Cherry Bomb + Jalapeno | An instant clear that covers a wider area than either parent. Saves you when a lane breaks. |
B Tier
Good picks for specific stages or plans.
| Plant | Hybrid of | Why / role |
|---|---|---|
| Ice-nut | Wall-nut + Ice-shroom | A wall that slows or freezes the zombies attacking it, which buys time for your attackers. |
| Squash-nut | Squash + Wall-nut | A defender that also crushes zombies. Handy in tight lanes. |
| Pea Fountain | Peashooter line | A pea-type attacker for main lanes. *Its role changes between versions. |
| Garlic Chomper | Garlic + Chomper | Pushes zombies into other lanes and eats them. Works best for lane control in Challenges. |
| Gloom Pumpkin | Gloom-shroom + Pumpkin | A shield that hits back in an area. Strong on night and fog stages. |
C Tier
They work, but a better option usually exists.
| Plant | Hybrid of | Why / role |
|---|---|---|
| Kitty Sunflower | Cat + Sunflower | A cheap economy option, but it falls behind Pea Sunflower in most decks. |
| Sun Bean | Sunflower + bean line | Extra sun for slower stages. *Its exact behavior isn’t confirmed for Remake 0.30. |
| Jalapeno Mine | Jalapeno + Potato Mine | A buried lane clear. Strong, but it’s slow to arm. |
| Hypno-Garlic | Hypno-shroom + Garlic | A situational control card that turns zombies and pushes them aside. |
D Tier
Situational or unreliable. Leave them out of serious runs.
| Plant | Hybrid of | Why / role |
|---|---|---|
| Random Plant Box | Blind-box card | You don’t know what you’ll get, so you can’t plan around it. Fun, but not for serious runs. |
| Nut Imitater | Wall-nut + Imitater | Copies a nut card. It’s usually worse than just bringing the real card. |
| Fluorescent Mallet | Hybrid utility card | A niche card. Most decks have better uses for that slot.* |
Best Plants in PvZ Hybrid by Mode

Adventure
Start each level with Pea Sunflower. You get sun and defense from one card, so you don’t need two separate openers. Add Ice-nut or Spikerock-nut to hold lanes, and keep Cherrypeno ready for emergencies. On night and fog levels, Gloom Pumpkin protects your shooters and damages zombies around it. Save Sunflower Queen for long levels where her +100 sun cost increase pays for itself.
Challenges
Challenges limit your sun or your seed slots, so cards that do more than one job count for more. Garlic Chomper and Hypno-Garlic let you move zombies into chosen lanes. Squash-nut defends and attacks from the same tile. If the challenge gives you enough sun, Doom Cannon can deal with almost any boss wave.
Survival
Survival is all about building your economy early. Get Sunflower Queen out early, use Sun-Sunflower to fill the back rows, then build up with Wild Gatling Pea and Winter Melon Cattail. In endless runs, two Doom Cannons on staggered reload timers are the safest way to handle Gargantuar flags.
Beginner Tips
- Use one Pea Sunflower in each lane instead of a separate Sunflower and Peashooter. That frees up seed slots.
- Don’t plant extra copies of gold cards like Sunflower Queen. Each copy makes all your plants cost 100 more sun.
- Aim Doom Cannon slightly behind the front zombie so the blast catches the whole group. Remember that the crater blocks planting for 3 minutes.
- Every deck should have one wall (Ice-nut or Spikerock-nut) and one instant clear (Cherrypeno or Jalapeno Mine).
- Back up your saves before updating. Our PvZ Hybrid versions page lists every Remake and Classic build.
Plants to watch from 0.30 and 0.31

The newest cards haven’t been tested enough to rank yet. We’ll place them once the community has tested them:
- Wizard Pumpkin and Magic Stone Nut (0.30): defensive picks for Magic Garden Pool.
- Current Tall-nut and Ice Seaweed (0.30): built for water lanes.
- Brainstorm and Holographic Imitater (0.31, diamond): each comes with 6 challenge stages.
- Sea King Seaweed (0.31, gold) and the Fortune God Box (0.31, rainbow).
Balance changes that moved rankings
- In 0.30, Split-Pea and Gatling Cattails got cheaper and now recharge in 30 seconds instead of 50. That makes them much easier to fit into a deck.
- Also in 0.30, Foxtail and Dogtail had their cost, fire rate and projectile count changed. Older rankings of them may be out of date.
