What’s new in Classic 3.18

According to the update-log images attached to the creator’s 3.18 announcement, this release:

• Expands the plant roster with new hybrid plants.
• Expands the Space-Time Secret Realm mode with more content.
• Brings balance changes to existing plants and zombies.
• Fixes a range of bugs reported in 3.17.

The previous version, 3.17, was announced on 9 May 2026 and added plants, zombies and levels. You can still download it above if an older save, a translation or a guide requires it.

A common mistake is thinking 3.18 is “newer” than Remake 0.30 because the number is bigger. It is not. Classic (3.x) and Remake (0.x) are two separate games with separate code, files and release schedules:

How to install PvZ Hybrid 3.18

1. Download and verify. Download the 3.18 ZIP. In PowerShell, run Get-FileHash "C:\Users\You\Downloads\file.zip" -Algorithm SHA256 and compare with the hash in the table.
2. Extract the ZIP. Right-click → Extract All. Inside you will find a folder named 植物大战僵尸杂交版v3.18.
3. Run the installer. Open 植物大战僵尸杂交版v3.18安装程序.exe (“installer”) and follow the prompts. Choose an install path you can find again.
4. Launch the game. After installation, start the game from its launcher (community guides identify it as pvzHE-Launcher.exe) or the desktop shortcut. The installer itself is not the game.
5. Test. Load the main menu and play one level to confirm everything works.

Windows SmartScreen may warn that the installer is from an unknown publisher, because fan projects are not code-signed. Only continue if your hash matched.

Where Classic saves your progress

Classic stores saves outside the install folder. The community-documented default location is:

Paste that path into the File Explorer address bar. Before updating from 3.17 to 3.18, close the game and copy the whole yourdata folder somewhere safe. Copying only the game folder does not back up your progress.

Upgrading from 3.17 to 3.18

1. Back up yourdata as above.
2. Install 3.18 into a new folder rather than over 3.17.
3. Launch 3.18 and check that your progress appears.
4. If something is wrong, restore your backup and keep 3.17 until a fix is available.

Common Classic problems

• Installer finished but nothing opens: you ran the installer again instead of the launcher. Look in the install folder for the launcher.
• Garbled text: the game is in Chinese; set Windows “Language for non-Unicode programs” to Chinese (Simplified) if text shows as symbols.
• Antivirus deletes a file: restore it only if your hash matched, then add an exclusion for the game folder.

Who should play Classic 3.18?

Classic is the right pick if you watched the PvZ Hybrid videos that went viral and want that exact experience, if you prefer the look and feel of the original 2009 game, or if you want to work through the Space-Time Secret Realm and the Classic challenge modes. It is also the edition most older guides, tier lists and walkthrough videos were made for, so if you are following a video from before the Remake existed, Classic is probably what it shows.

Choose Remake instead if you play on a phone, want the most frequent updates, or are starting fresh with no attachment to the original. Many players keep both installed. They do not share files or saves, so they will not conflict.

• Adds 10 plants, including new Torchwood variants, a laser cannon and a Pineapple Chariot.

• Removes the sun cap and changes sun production, so older economy guides may no longer work.
• Fixes 6 bugs, covering level select, crashes, cooldowns, item counts and shop access.

Where Classic keeps your saves

Classic stores saves outside the game folder. Paste this path into File Explorer:
